When is dessert worth more than one thousand dollars? When it is being auctioned off at Damascus Christian School’s 40th Anniversary Celebration! The sweets were part of the ‘dessert dash’ which had people bidding, laughing and dashing their way to the dessert table for gourmet treats.
The event was held Friday night May 15th, 2015 and generous donors helped us raised more than $9,000 for tuition assistance for the Damascus Christian Education Foundation, plus additional money for the school itself through a silent auction.
Many former alumni attended, teachers told stories from decades gone by, a former student shared how DCS and his teachers had prepared him for the real world and we heard the story of how Damascus Christian School almost never happened.
The evening did more than look back however, it looked forward, too. Incoming Principal Zach Davidson talked about how excited he is to lead DCS as we head into the 2015-2016 school year. His daughter goes to Damascus Christian and his wife also attended DCS. Currently an administrator in the public schools, he is excited to be our next DCS Principal. And ultimately, he’s kicking off the next 40 years of great things happening at Damascus Christian School!
Special Thanks to Our Sponsors
This kind of fundraising would not have been possible without the help of our generous sponsors who helped cover much of the cost for this year’s event.
Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, donated and took part in this wonderful celebration! And thank you to Kristie Horness-Herdener for organizing a successful and fun evening!
