April 24-29, 2023 - Eagle Eye News

Congratulations to our high school Boys Volleyball Team!  They completed their season this last week with the league playoffs on Thursday.   Coming in seeded 3rd, they knew they were the underdogs, but they fought hard and got the semi-final win against Grand View in 4 sets, advancing them to the championship game against Open Door. While each set was close, they managed to pull out the win in 4 sets securing the first ever Valley 10 League Boys Volleyball Championship!  Way to Go Eagles!!

There is a lot happening in the coming weeks as we head into the final stretch of the school year. Check out the Eagle Eye to stay up to date on everything.

This has been a record year for Kleenex usage, and our supply is almost gone!  The next time you are out grocery shopping, if you feel inclined to pick up a box for the school, we would greatly appreciate it!

As part of the county requirements for our phase 1 Building on Faith plans, there will be a traffic study conducted this week. This will not have any impact on our drop off or pick up process.  However, we want to encourage families of the importance that we are modeling concern for our neighbors in relation to traffic on Rust Way. Please be aware and considerate of drivers as you are entering and exiting our campus. And as always, we want to do our best to minimize overflow traffic onto Rust Way.

As days become warmer and drier, please make sure your students are staying within dress code. If you need a refresher on what that entails, you can find it on our website or here.

Senior Spotlight – David Layzell

David came to DCS as a 9th grader, after finishing at a local K-8 school. His older brother was already attending DCS at the time. Although he didn’t know anyone when he arrived, he knows he will miss his classmates, friends and the DCS community the most. The Yellowstone trip this year holds a special place out all his memories at DCS.  He felt the trip changed his life and united him to his classmates. David says of the trip, “I grew so much closer to God, it was astounding!” Following graduation, David is considering attending Portland Bible College as he is wanting to learn more about God and be prepared to give an answer when asked. David has been learning to lean on God and trust Him in all things and can see how God has helped him be more joyful and less fearful about the future.
