January 8-12, 2024 - Eagle Eye News

We are only 2 weeks away from the end of the 2nd quarter and 1st semester! High Schoolers will be preparing this week to take their semester finals next week. Please be checking in with your students and on RenWeb for grade updates and to encourage them to finish the term strong! Junior High Basketball season starts game play this week as well. Stay tuned-in to the DCS schedule with the latest edition of the Eagle Eye!

Re-Enrollment is Here! Check your inbox for an email with instructions and information on how to secure your student’s spot for the 2024-2025 school year. Don’t delay, as the deadline to re-enroll is Friday, January 19th! If you have questions about re-enrollment, please contact Heidi Hale in the school office.

Are your snow boots on standby? Do you have your gloves and hats handy? With the potential of winter weather towards the end of this week we wanted to remind you of how we communicate school delays or closures. First, we try to make the decision of a school closure/delay no later than 7:00 AM. Second, we will communicate any closures or delays through Flash Alert, email, social media, our DCS website, and the local news. Finally, we want to remind you to login and update your Flash Alert account (or create a new one if need be) so you can get notifications as soon as a delay or closure is posted.

There is only one more week to get signed up for the free Speech & Language Screenings! The screenings will be held on Tuesday, January 16th! Check out the flier for details and scan the QR code to sign up on or before January 15th.

High Schoolers, Save the Date for Western Winter: a country semi-fancy event on Saturday, January 27th. Tickets will go on sale soon, so stay tuned!

You are invited to Family Night at Damascus Community Church on Sunday, January 28th from 4-6pm! For the parents, Steve Huggins will be speaking on what anxiety in children looks like at various ages and practical steps parents can do to help with anxiety. For the elementary children, PeeWee the Clown will be bringing twisty balloons and fun stories about treating others with kindness. There will be childcare for younger children (newborn through preschool). After our breakout sessions, we will gather in the gym for a family potluck. Please sign up here to bring a dish for the potluck or help with setup.
