January 22-27, 2024 - Eagle Eye News

Somehow, our wild weekend of weather last week turned into an even crazier weeklong winter weather extravaganza. We will attempt to catch up on our missed week and get back to our regularly programmed schedule.  The grading period is extended through the end of this week in order to allow for high school finals as well as any remaining work needing to be completed for the quarter. It’s also Spirit Week, with daily dress up days! Check out this week’s edition of the Eagle Eye for all the details.

This Saturday’s Western Winter event is STILL ON, and tickets are on sale now! What’s Western Winter, you ask? It’s a country-themed winter fling event sponsored by Student Council for all High Schoolers, from 5:00 - 9:00 PM at 33775 SE Brooks Road, in Boring Oregon. There will be food, music, country line-dancing, and you can test your cowboy/cowgirl skills by riding a mechanical bull! What better way to cap off Spirit Week! Tickets are $15 per person and are on sale now! Non-DCS students may attend with the purchase of a ticket and approved DCS Visitor Permission Form. This event will be chaperoned by DCS staff and approved volunteers. Purchase Your Tickets Today!

New Student Applications opened last Monday, January 15th. Even though our Pre-K class hit its capacity limit by 10:30 am that day, we still have open spots in many of our other grades. Specifically, we currently have openings in KG - 6th and 10th- 12th. If you have new students you would like to enroll or have friends and family looking to enroll, now is the time to get those applications in! For currently enrolled families, you can go through your FACTS Family Portal under the Apply/Enroll tab on the left-hand side of the screen, select Application to begin. Families new to DCS can apply through the Enroll Now link on our website.

Along with so many rescheduled events from last week, the free Speech & Language Screenings have also been rescheduled for next week, Tuesday, January 30th! All who were previously registered will remain signed up for the screening. Registration is open for those that still want to take advantage of this free service. Check out the flier for details and scan the QR code to sign up by January 29th.

DCC Family Night is coming up this Sunday, January 28th, from 4-6pm! For the parents, Steve Huggins will be speaking on what anxiety in children looks like at various ages and practical steps parents can take to help with anxiety. For the elementary children, PeeWee the Clown will be bringing twisty balloons and fun stories about treating others with kindness. There will be childcare for younger children (newborn through preschool). After our breakout sessions, we will gather in the gym for a family potluck. Please sign up here to bring a dish for the potluck or help with setup. Questions, contact angela.karch@damascuscc.org
