November 7-11, 2022 Eagle Eye News

Elementary conferences are this Thursday! It is a no-school day for elementary students (PK-6th) only.  Secondary students have school as normal. No school for all students on Friday in observance of Veteran’s Day. Here’s the weekly Eagle Eye for a look at the rest of the happenings this week and in the coming weeks.

For the first time in DCS history, our Lady Eagles are the 1A Volleyball State Champions!! After an incredible all-school send off Thursday afternoon, the team headed to Redmond for the 1A OSAA State Championship Tournament. Their first game on Friday was against Umpqua Valley Christian, where they took down their opponent in 3 quick sets. Later that day, they battled it out against Rogue Valley Adventist. After 4 back and forth sets, they secured the win in the 5th set and advanced to the finals, this being the first time in DCS history our Lady Eagles made it to the championship volleyball game. The stands were loud and there were lots of nerves. Opponent, North Douglas, took charge from the start and DCS found themselves in a 2-0 deficit. But our girls rallied, coming back to win the next 3 sets and take the championship title! They finished their season 36-0 and remain the only undefeated team this year across all classifications in the state of Oregon. Sierra Hale and Julia Mitchell were selected for 1st team all-tournament. Abbigayle Bailey was selected for 2nd team all-tournament, and Sierra Hale received player of the game. Well Done, Ladies! We are so proud of you!!  Check out The Outlook post-win news article here.
